James Docherty

Two years ago, I sat in assembly watching Mc big G explaining a trip called Cape Town 2014. Back then I thought of it as another school trip. However the realisation of what the trip really was quickly sank in.

The ten days had flown past. It's seems like yesterday that we were sleep deprived on a Turkish airline. Now, were packed. Apart from the boys, there's time for that. The trips been amazing and life changing. Personally I've matured and I've come to realise how lucky I am.
My favourite part of the trip was the overnight safari. With a bangin party and a late night hippo coming to visit it was the perfect night. It was amazing to see the animals in their natural habitat and it put most zoos to shame.

My favourite moment was when I gave my friend at the primary my sunglasses. I later found him crying, thus showed me how much a simple act if kindness means to the kids.

I've made many friends over the trip, including the children from the Welcome school. Also the people in my group that I didn't speak to a lot. But I now count as family. The trip wasn't just a holiday but life changing. And something that will stay with me my whole life. I hope, that one day I will be able to meet the pupils of welcome primary school again.

I'll never forget Cape Town 2014.
