Kirkcaldy West Assemblies

When we came back from Cape Town, the Head Teacher, Mr. Trousdale, of Kirkcaldy West Primary asked us to visit his school to share our experiences with the pupils. We did three assemblies in order to speak to the whole school. Anna made a video of our photos with our Cape Town tunes in the background to show them the variety of things that we did. The peacock got the best cheer out of all of the Safari animals! We explained to the pupils that going to Cape Town is an opportunity that they would most likely have when they come up to Balwearie. We told the children all about the time we spent in Welcome Primary and the impact that we had on each other, and this definitely appealed to the older pupils.

The reason why we went to speak to Kirkcaldy West was to try and get other schools in our community involved in the link so that we can raise funds and awareness. Telling them about our experience was extremely enjoyable and we are hoping that they will now become involved in working with Welcome Primary.

We hope to continue working with Kirkcaldy West by fundraising together and teaching the pupils more about South Africa and the difference we can make as a community.

2015- The connection has begun!

After the very first two fantastic and successful trips last year to Capetown and visiting Welcome Primary we are very happy to announce that in the very near future, Welcome Primary School will now be starting to contribute to blog about our connection, with both Teachers and Pupils sharing their stories and work.
2015 will be a year of both schools giving regular updates on our very special link between two continents. This is something which promises to be very exciting giving you an insight into what changes are being made possible by this incredible link, both in Scotland and South Africa.

Both sides cannot wait to share this with you.
