Lara Paterson

It seems like the other day that we were boarding our flight from Edinburgh Airport to start our 16 hours adventure to the other side of the world that would possibly change our lives. Now it's the last day and thinking back to the past 12 days had made me think of how amazing this trip has been.
I remember back in third year when Mr McGuckin introduced his plan of taking some of our year group to Cape Town, South Africa and I was caught up on the idea. I didn't think that I would actually get into the trip as I was just new to the school and to my luck I got into the final 32 and was officially going on the biggest adventure of my life.
I was right.

This trip has been the best experience of my life so far. I've met so many different people that I wouldn't normally talk to if I was just in school and I have managed to experience Cape Town with some of the best people I've came across! Everyone has welcomed us into their community and their homes as a token of  thanks for what we've managed to achieve since the beginning of the partnership with Balwearie and Welcome.

I feel as though I'm a more confident person compared to the person I came to Cape Town as. I now have a clearer picture of how charity work, such as Children in Need and Comic Relief, can help so many people.
There has been so many funny and rememberable moments and I would happily relive the past couple of days all over again!
