This morning we went back to the primary. Me (Zoe) and Matty G went to grade 2 first where the teacher was teaching a writing lesson. When she was teaching the word naughty she explained about the naughty behaviours she was referring to, like gangs and drugs and the children getting into the wrong crowds. Even at the age of 8 this affects them. The kids also got to go and get food if their parents hadn't given them lunch and they got a delicious doughnut at break.
We then headed off to a Grade 6 and we got to chat to them about the differences between Scotland and Cape Town, they were surprised to hear that it snows and that we only speak one language and it really surprised them that I'm not religious. What shocked me was that their irn bru is brown and that many of the girls are pregnant by 14. A couple of the other groups read the gruffalo and the photos of the kids drawings of the story are really cute, it sounds like they really enjoyed it!
We were invited to visit Woodlands Primary, where the GCU was and where Larbert High School visited (MC big G's old school). They greeted us with a buffet of red velvet cake, tuna, lovely bread and scones!! The Balwearie teachers were very excited about the scones. The Woodlands teachers were really welcoming and we really appreciated their hospitality. Then we got to see the kids and there was an absolute uproar. They cheered us into their classrooms, danced with us, asked our names and begged us to take photos with them. They were so excited to see us, it was amazing. They were so kind and polite as well as grateful for us being there, it meant a lot to see them so happy.
Then after that, we got to go whale spotting at Hermanus. We also went for a meal at Erinvale, which was fab, the food was really really tasty. I had pasta for the first time since arriving and I've been craving it lots and it was definitely en pointe. Everyone really enjoyed their meal.
