Makayla - My Cape Town Experience

It seems so weird, to think it has been nearly two years since I first heard of the Cape Town trip! As soon as I heard of it I knew it was for me, I wasn't interested in most school trips but this one stood out. Having to go through the interviewing and finding out if you had been successful in the process was nerve racking but when I found out I had been selected I was over the moon!

I feel this trip has changed my opinions on some people, I now feel that I shouldn't judge people as quickly and I love how many different personalities we have in one group and still manage to have the amazing bonds we have.

I feel this is a very emotional trip that will stay with me forever. All the little jokes and the good memories we have made I know we will all stay friends for a long time.  Also going to the primary school and the township was very emotional as seeing what a difference we made in the school and how much we can give to them in the future. The children really appreciated us being there and the whole school made us feel really welcome! Leaving the children behind had to be the hardest bit of the trip, leaving the class I was with most of the time really got to me and made me realise that we had made a difference.

It's guaranteed that you will make new friends on this trip not only just in your group but with the children at the primary schools. I loved the fact that they all wanted to stay in contact and I hope we continue to stay in contact as they were all so lovely.

Overall this was an amazing trip that I would love to do again, being with the kids made me realise that I really do want to be a primary school teacher. The experience has been amazing, going to table mountain and  going on the safari but the best part of the trip had to be Welcome Primary School.
