When we came back from Cape Town, the Head
Teacher, Mr. Trousdale, of Kirkcaldy West Primary asked us to visit his school
to share our experiences with the pupils. We did three assemblies in order to
speak to the whole school. Anna made a video of our photos with our Cape Town
tunes in the background to show them the variety of things that we did. The
peacock got the best cheer out of all of the Safari animals! We explained to
the pupils that going to Cape Town is an opportunity that they would most
likely have when they come up to Balwearie. We told the children all about the
time we spent in Welcome Primary and the impact that we had on each other, and
this definitely appealed to the older pupils.
The
reason why we went to speak to Kirkcaldy West was to try and get other schools
in our community involved in the link so that we can raise funds and awareness.
Telling them about our experience was extremely enjoyable and we are hoping
that they will now become involved in working with Welcome Primary.
We hope to
continue working with Kirkcaldy West by fundraising together and teaching the
pupils more about South Africa and the difference we can make as a community.
