Second day teaching at Welcome

We arrived at Welcome Primary and were greeted with many kids that reconginsied our faces and even some of our names! The first day we taught the kids was very successful and we just couldn't wait to do it all over again! After preparing some new lessons and re-vamping some the night before, we were assigned our classes by Mr Jacobs, their head teacher, and got CRACKING.

As most of the classes had done the gruffallo we (Craig,Mherrin,Jen) decided to teach the kids about Scotland and got them to try and teach us a bit about South Africa! They were really interested in Scotland and asked lots of questions about our food, sports, weather and traditions! Especially about how a true Scotsman doesn't wear anything under his kilt!

We then got the class to make posters promoting Balwearies link with the their school, and the best things and similarities about South Africa and Scotland. Some even made leaflets and included pictures of both flags and landmarks of both countries!

We have learnt loads about South Africa and the huge differences between our lives and the lives of children and people who live here in townships and communities.
